| ESTONIAN MUSIC VIDEOS The reason for this is that in Estonia music videos have no outlet. After a few screenings on TV they disappear into oblivion. And that’s a shame! After all, music videos are a separate audiovisual genre that is just as challenging for the author as short films or animations.
There are a couple of examples in the program that do not really belong to the hall of fame of the new Estonian music videos but which are definitely some kind of landmarks in the history of the Estonian music video industry. Camp, that makes for compulsive viewing. over the last four years. This was not an easy task. Much like the short film genre, the music video industry is still in the early stages of development, which means that not many videos are made. It was very hard to find videos that would combine good music and decent technical quality with good visuals and an intriguing story. Finding out the production data for the videos was also a real challenge, which involved a lot of phone calls to friends of friends. As you can see from the list of videos below, some directors and cinematographers, unfortunately, remained unidentified.
Still, a positive tendency can be observed. We have the brilliant music video director Masa and recently the MTV Baltic channel was created. There is no denying that there is still a long way to go, but it seems that as time goes on, things get better. Sleepwalkers certainly hopes that in a couple of years we will be able to organize a separate competition program for music videos.
