SLEEPWALKERS 2006 WINNERS

The Sleepwalkers Student Film Festival announced the winners of this year’s awards. 

The international jury - György Kárpáti (Hungary), Kersti Uibo (Estonia), Axel Danielson (Sweden), Jürgen Kittel  (Germany) ja Steve Smith (UK) - chose Finnish HOME VIDEO (Mikko Kuparinen) to win the Grand Prix - 1 km of 16 mm Kodak film print and development of 1 hour of film print by Finlab OY.

The awards of the Sleepwalkers 2006 were given out as follows: 

GRAND PRIX for the talent of the director to achieve the maximum artistic effect with the minimal means (the perfect timing and excellent acting).
HOMEVIDEO / KOTIVIDEO

BEST FICTION for the psychological analysis of violence (football hooliganism) directed in a rich visual style with an unexpected twist in the end.
THE REFUGEE CITY
(Poland, 2006)

BEST DOCUMENTARY for the sensitivity of the director to engage the audience in the clash of cultures in the fundamental things of life.
FINAL DAYS / VIIMNEPÄEV
(Estonia, 2006)
Director: Kullar Viimne

BEST ANIMATION for telling a story of a personal break-down using a variety of animation techniques in an eclectic style.
ADJUSTMENT
(UK, 2006)
Director: Ian Mackinnon

SPECIAL MENTION for the confident artistic direction in subtly revealing the story of the loss of the beloved one.

SPECIAL MENTION for revealing a fundamental issue of life in a humorous way (formally reduced graphic style and use of a recorded interview as an illustration).
