British horror special in Cinema House on 21 March

On Wednesday, 21 March at 18:00 in Tallinn Cinema House acknowledged British horror film researcher Xavier Mendik!

NB! The horror special inn Cinema House, previously announced for 20 March, will take place the next day, on 21 March.

In cooperation with British Council the festival hosts acknowledged horror and cult film researcher, writer, professor of Brunel University in London and the director of the Cult Film Archive Xavier Mendik, who presents his documentary "Menstrual Monsters: The Ginger Snaps Trilogy". On the basis of horror film "Ginger Snaps" Mendik examines how the gender roles, gay topic and femininity appear in classic teen werewolf thriller.

In Tallinn Cinema House on 21 March and Haapsalu Culture Centre on 24 March the screening of named documentary will be followed by author's commentaries and open discussion, where the director himself and producer Howard Martin answer audience's questions and discuss the role of British and other horror films as a revealer of society's taboos. Additionally Mendik presents materials from his lecture "Menstrual Monsters and Monstrous Meanings”.
