Nuno Lopes, born in Portugal, knew early on that he wanted to be on stage and on the screen, so he went directly to the Lisbon School of Cinema and Theatre after his graduation from high school. His professional involvement in the theatre dates back to 1997, when he began collaborating with such directors as Luís Miguel Cintra, António Pires, Christine Laurent and Brigitte Jacques, and he also worked together with Rodrigo Garcia in the Thierry Salmon Project (the new Ecole des Maîtres). He has had significant roles in several fiction and comedy productions made for Portuguese and Brazilian TV and was nominated for Best Actor in Theatre for the Portuguese 2004 Golden Globes Awards. Playing the emotional role of a father searching for his missing daughter, he won the Best Actor Award at the Luso-Brazilian Film Festival of Santa Maria da Feira for his highly acclaimed performance in the film ALICE.
