The departure of Elbert Tuganov

Today from St. Charles’ Church in Tallinn Elbert Tuganov, the founder of Estonian stop motion animation and a member of Estonian Filmmakers’ Union will be sent to his last journey. He deceased on 22 March.

Elbert Tuganov’s (born in 1920) first puppet film "Little Peter’s Dream" (1957) marked the establishment of Eesti Nukufilm (studio Estonian Puppet Film). In 30 productive years he created 38 acknowledged animated films.  

In 2005, Elbert Tuganov received Lifetime Achievement Award of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
